I'm not sure whether I should help or laugh.

Just hold your eye open and pop it in. I find it's actually harder taking them out than putting them in.

lol. Practice. I use my right hand to hold my right eye open, with my thumb holding the lower lid and my index finger holding the upper one. It take awile to get used to it...dont give up.

Figure out what works for you.

For me (with soft lenses) it's index finger of left hand on top eyelid, ring finger of right hand on bottom lid, thumb + index finger on right hand to pull out lens, index finger to put it in.

With hard lenses it's basically the same except I used my thumb & index finger to hold the plunger (for removal). Insertion is the same.

If you're having problems take a break for a while & let your eye settle down. Beating it to death won't help.

Got a woman around? Borrow one of those round makeup mirrors & practice with the magnifying side.

If you truly do have small corneas you may need a non standard lens size.

I have the opposite problem, I have unusually large corneas & require lenses that are several mm larger in diameter. According to my lens fitter I have the 2nd biggest lenses he's ever fitted. Smaller lenses won't seat right or stay centered on my corneas.

It took me a no-shit 50 minutes to get my first one in. The next one took about a minute, and that includes carefully opening the packaging.

Now, I can get them in my eye in about 3 seconds*

*not including preparation time, ie rinsing and checking to make sure it is right side out.

I've been wearing hard/gas perm contacts for 15 years now. No problems and I have pretty sensitive eyes.

Insertion: make sure lenses are free from cleaner .. that stuff HURTS!! .. and lubricated pretty good with soaking solution. Contact sitting on my right index finger. Right middle finger pulles down the skin below my eye while my left index finger pulls up my eyelid. Put contact on eye. Let go. Blink. Repeat with other eye.

Removal: Look towards my nose (right eye looks left, left eye looks right) and use my index finger to pull back the corner of my eye. Then blink. The contact comes right now (sometimes goes sailing, so I do this looking down over a towel.

I can't open my eyes wide enough to put it in.

For my right eye, I hold the contact on the tip of my right index finger, and hold the lower lip down with my left index finger. I look up, and place the contact toward the bottomish. Then I move the contact upish, and look down at the same time. Win.

All I can say is don't buy cheap contacts. I'd get disposable rather than do the daily cleaning. The disposable ones my optometrist gave me are super soft and disposable. Good stuff.

Didnt you practice at the doctors office?
I remember my first time, it took me a while and if i didnt get them in on my own i was not walking away with them and i would have to come back another day for another training session.

Major dissagrement. I can get my right contact in first try, every time. My left usually goes in on 2nd/3rd try. Removing is 1st time, every time. I just put my finger right over the contact, and look up and pull down at the same time. Then just pinch and remove. Win.

My eyes freaked out too the first time I tried to put contacts in. They have a mind of their own, closing and flipping out and generally going apesh!t when you first attempt it. You'll get used to it - most likely one eye more than the other at first. To this day I can pop my right one in in about 5 seconds, whereas my left one takes a little longer. You'll get there.

I remember my first time, I was 10 and it took me about an hour to put them in.

For me this works best, pic up the lense by the inside with index finger of the hand on the same side as the eye your putting it in (i.e. right hand right eye, left hand left eye). Touch ouside of lense that is now on your finger with the opposite index finger. Hold eye open with same side hand using your index finger and thumb. Touch eye with lense until it sticks. Do not blink, but instead look up, then blink.

I often find it's more confortable to put a drop of saleen solution into the contact before I put it on too.

It takes practice.

The first time it took me nearly 45 minutes to do! Same amount of time to take out too!

I've now taken them in/out about 15 times, and I'm pretty good at them. I've got ones that I put in and keep in for a month, however, so i only in reality only have to do it once a month :)

How can you have trouble taking them OUT? I can actually use my eyelids to push them out without using my hands...
