Contacts wearers, HELP...

Pull my eyelid down with my middle finger and place in with my pointer finger. It's a one handed operation. It was really easy to do with my daily throw away's, but it's a little more difficult to do with the Accuvue two weeks, just because they seem to stick to my finger a little more.

All I can say is you get used to poking your eye and touching the eyeball. I got ridaculed for being a wussy by my friends, so I bucked up and made myself do it; now it is easy as pie. mmmmm pie.

I just put them straight on and that's it. The hardest and most time consuming part is making sure they are right side out - which is all of the second it takes to view it in profile on your finger.

Viewed in profile, the rim of the contact should continue the curve, rather than flaring outward - if it flares sideways it's inside out and will hurt like hell and not seat correctly.

also, though I don't do this with my daily disposables, EWJ's advice is solid:

I often find it's more confortable to put a drop of [saline] solution into the contact before I put it on too.

a while back, this question came up on another board i frequent and i thought a real world pic of what people are describing might be helpful. so here you go:

eye

enjoy; and hope this helps.

im so used to putting them in/taking them out now, that i can do it with one hand and dont need a mirror.

the problem is the lens is sticky. when I touch my eyelid, I have to do over again. I can't seem to be able to open it wide enough to put it in without touching the eyelid.

It took me a no-shit 50 minutes to get my first one in. The next one took about a minute, and that includes carefully opening the packaging.

Now, I can get them in my eye in about 3 seconds*

*not including preparation time, ie rinsing and checking to make sure it is right side out.

yea, I remember it was tough the first couple of times

then maybe contacts are not for you. but, you shoulda realized this when you went for your fitting at teh doctors office. im sure with time and practice you'll get the hang of it.

the first time i ever put contacts in at the doctors it took me about 5 seconds per eye, no joke. now, it only takes longer if i'm really tired in the morning. i can even take them out and put them in with no mirror.
