Should I watch the movie first, then the book? or viceversa? or just the book? or just the movie?

If true, then please ban this mofo. This is a real reason to ban a user. :frown:

You're asking about a 12 year old movie, one of my favorites actually. I thought this was well known...kinda like Darth Vader?

We're not all 40-year-old farts.

So then watch the movie and read the book. I didn't technically give it away, you'll have to watch to see.

Still one of my favorite movies of all time.

No mere mortal - including yourself - can beat the clock. You WILL be 40 revolutions old too. Just got about 30 more to go! 😉

im 25 and saw it in the theater 😕

I would say watch the movie then read the book, assuming that you don't mind slower-paced, non-laser blasting sci-fi films like GATTACA and you're one of those that tends to nitpick over every little thing that the movie screws up.

he just saved you 3 hours. thank him.

That's not entirely true though, is it? After decoding the blueprints and assembling both spheres, the second machine transports her to another point in space/time, where an alien entity assumes the form of her father to discuss what has transpired. It wasn't actually her father ... or my recollection of the movie is overshadowing that of the book.

I enjoyed the movie very much. It was slow but it was at a pace it was supposed to be. I would recommend it to any one. I never read the book since I don't even know how to read.

I don't mind the slow pace. I loved Gattaca.

The book and movie are very well in line with one another in terms of pace and plot, the book is much more detailed though and expansive.

<Mr Garrison>[throws up] Stop! That movie was terrible! Waited through that entire movie to see the alien and it was her goddamn father! </Mr Garrison>

zing!

Oh and the alien is not her real father. The reason why they use that image is an important theme though.

Why? Because of some lame marklar?

I wanted to see some really cool guys that thought all this crap up, then I wanted to know the history - not some lame dad saying "Hi, we can't show you much and this has been around for a long time"

Lame...so freaking lame.
