I've been using Acuvue2 lenses for the past couple years, but figured I'd try something new. I had my eye exam this past weekend and was inquiring about the Focus Night & Day lenses - the ones you can supposedly leave in for 30 days straight and sleep in them. So she gave me a trial pair to see if I liked them.

They felt fine when I initially put them in, but by the end of the day my eyes were feeling really scratchy and irritated. So I took them out - they were very hard to get out, stuck like glue unlike the Acuvue2's. I tried again the next day and they weren't exactly feeling great by the end of the day, but I figured I'd try sleeping in them to see how that went. Well, most of the next day (yesterday) I was extremely bothered by them. So I gave up on them last night and put back in my Acuvue2's. Still need to go back for my checkup and tell her I didn't like them and either go back to Acuvue2's or try something else instead.

So, anyone else switch from Acuvue2's to something else? Sleeping in them really isn't that big of a deal, I just figured it would be more convenient but taking out every night isn't a problem. Seems with all the newer lenses out there must be something good, but right now just sticking with the ancient Acuvue2's seem my best option.
 
I use Night & Days, and I can actually leave them in for a month without taking them out! You're supposed to throw them away, but after a cleaning I find they last a good 3-4 months. Next best think to lasik surgery 🙂 I give it three thumbs up:

 
Yeah, I went from Acuvue Advanced to the Night and Day lenses, and I LOVE it!! The worst I have to do is use some rewetting drops in the morning when I get up. That is it. I don't wear them for more than a month, but I am sure I could if I wanted too.
 
I can't keep them in for a full month, but my Night & Day's do last me a LOT longer than any of the Acuvue's I've used in the past. My eyes are sensitive, so I can't leave any contacts in overnight, but I can make the N&D's last me 2 months or so.
 
wish i could wear lenses like that, or ones that have real good lubrication. with toric lenses my options are limited
 
I had a roommate who used Night & Days or something similar and he was very happy with them. The ones he had were fore 14 days continuous use, and he had no issues. I've never tried them, so I can't say if they're godo or bad. I currently use SofLens (?) by Bausch and Lomb but I don't have any brand loyalty or issues with switching.

What solution do you use?
 
Did you guys have any problems with the Night & Days initially? Like does it just take time to get used to them? I don't remember being as continually bothered by a new type of lens in the past as I was with these.
 
I got them like a year and a half ago and love them. They cost a bit more but I prob wouldn't be wearing contacts without them. When I first got them (first two months or so) my eyes got irrated for the first few days and near the end of the month. It probably would have been a lot easier transition if they had the right size--apprently I'm in between or something. If you have a chance, I'd take a trial and see how you like them.
 
1) I'd always remove the lenses during the night to give your eyes a break...I always do it...
2) I had Focus lenses for like 5 years (regular monthlies) but all of a sudden the quality went crap and for like 3 consecutive sets I tried (thought maybe a bad batch or so) they had a really ****** fit. It did not get better, so now I am on Biomedics Evolutions 55UV...satisfied so far

I had no problems at all. They are more "breathable" than normal lenses, so they don't dry your eyes out like normal lenses do. I'd even recommend these to people with sensitive eyes as they are so much more comfortable.

I've just changed from 1 day acuvue to O2 Optix - I'd had the 1 day acuvue for about 7 or 8 years.
With the Optix I leave them in 2 weeks and use eye drops (Blinx) morning and night. Now, when going back to Acuvue for a day I find them uncomfortable - I had never even noticed them before.
 
Went from Acuvue 2's to Acuvue Advance's.

You could definitely feel the difference after 12-14 hours in them. The Advance's don't dry out your eyes as quickly.

I concur.
I just switched from Acuvue 2's to Advance.
I normally slip in my lenses at about 8.00am and take them out by 10.00pm
I cannot imagine sleeping with lenses on, shouldn't you give your eyes some breathing room?

every year, I inquire about getting lasik done and every year, I postpone it.
yes, I've postponed lasik again for y2007......just cannot get the guts to get it done.
keep on going back to scenario where something might go wrong and i lose one eye or both.
without eyes, might as well take some cyan*de...
 
I just switched from Acuvue 2 to Acuvue Advance and these are a lot more comfortable. I don't sleep in my contacts though because that's pretty stupid. 😉
 
I haven't worn contacts in years, because of dry red eyes. I might need to try some of these they sound promising.

Any of them meant for dry eyes and occasional use?
 
for comfort ive never had anything better than Cooper Aspherics.

(my mom works in an optics shop and ive tried trials of probably 40 brands)
 
I use night and days. I find them more comfortable than my old contacts. I usually keep them in for about two weeks at a time or so before I take them out for a night.
 
Maybe I'll ask for a trial pair of the Acuvue Advance then. Reading the reviews of them up at epinions, people didn't seem too impressed with them though.
 
I use focus night and day, they are the only contacts i've ever used. They're great, I leave them in for a month or 6 weeks at a time with never taking them out, then i'll either throw them away or clean em good and put them back in. I don't know how to compare them to anything else, however I can't even feel them and forget i'm wearing them.

riiiight, it's "pretty stupid" to wear contacts that are MEANT for continuous wear, Approved by the Fed Gov, and worn by thousands of people. Yeah, that is REALLY stupid.


I slept in them since day one of using them. I have used other disposables (2 week) for years, then I just got tired of taking them in and out every day since I get up at 5 am to head to work, I just never felt like dealing with it. So I went back to glasses, but when my brother in law said he had gotten the Night and Day ones and loved them, I thought I would give them a try, and they ROCK! Sleeping in them isn't that weird really, and I love being able to SEE when I wake up in the middle of the night, I mean they are a little dry when you wake up, but I pop a drop or two of rewetting drops in and I am good to go.
 
I have the cheap contacts that came with the $99 6 month special. I asked for the Acuvue 2 or the new hydroclear lenses, but apperently they don't make any that would fit me.
