Consumers not ready for online gaming - Nintendo I'm not bashing the GameCube at all, I'm just curious to see if you feel Nintendo really has the pulse of the average console gamer 😕

Note: Notice how:

Harrison commented that "we just don't believe consumers are ready for [online gaming]. Right now, no one's paying for subscriptions. The real test comes when you have to start coughing up $15 a month."

Who pays that much for online gaming per month, I thought the norm was around $10.00 US?

Why pay several hundred for a console, plus $10-15 a month to play online... when most everybody has a computer with internet access and tons more games to choose from?

I think he specifically means fee-based online gaming and he's right. EA's lates Star Wars game was a flop, they also shutting down the racing game, forgot the title. There are just too many games you can play online just for the price of the game itself.

I can tell you the GameCube is in no more trouble than the Xbox.

What in the world...is it just me or is Xbox starting to get more and more games and get more and more established.

To an extent I agree. If they want to make such an elaborate service they have to charge $15 a month...good luck. If they're reasonable and can pull it off for $5 or ten tops then I think its a huge potential market.

Keep in mind though too that your nintendo console gamer usually isn't your "typical" gamer either. I think they cater to a different market that more family/younger person oriented. Harder to get recurring fees from an 8 year old.....

What's nintento?

I for one love the fact that they didn't bother with online gaming. That is what a computer is for, I want to play fun games with insane replay value. Hell, even smash bros is worth the entire price of the system, for that one damn game.
