Constnatly losing file associations

I am fed up with fighting with WinAMP over file associations. If I wasn't such a big fan of Shoutcasts I would uninstall this farking POS.

Is there a way I can set a file association and LOCK IT? I set the video file associations to the Windows Media Player and within a day WinAMP has taken over WMV, AVI, etc and is playing them again. I'm really annoyed with this.

Any help is appreciated.

A script to set file associations might lessen the annoyance. Hit up your favorite search engine for "script to set file associations." You can set it to run at certain times with task manager, or set it to run at login.

It's been years since I used WinAMP but I thought it asked about associations before doing anything with them.

Anyway, you could set the proper registry permissions so that your user can't change them. That way WinAMP wouldn't be able to either.
