Title says it all. I'm getting automatically logged out of my account when I leave the site, and when I come back and try to make a post, I always have to do a captcha check. Is this happening to anybody else?

Using Firefox x64 57.0.2

I'm using Firefox 57.0.2 x64 and I don't recall seeing any captcha stuff on this site. Try a fresh FF profile?

Captcha is often used as a secondary entry barrier for added security to financial, brokerage accounts, etc. Never seen it used generically by the browser.

Now I'm getting it when I just try to embed a youtube video in a new thread.

Is my account flagged for some reason?

As an update, I was completely unable to enter the forum. Was given endless captchas that just led to more captchas. Couldn't even browse, let alone post in threads. Seems to be good for now though.

Do you happen to have a screenshot of this captcha and the log out issues? I can report this to the appropriate department depending on the nature of the captcha.

Unfortunately not. When it comes again, I'll take a screenshot of it. The captcha is the simple" click to confirm you're a human" one. Fwiw, I haven't been locked out of the site again like last time.

This started happening to me too as of yesterday. Can't even get to the forum, it's just an endless loop of capcha "prove you are human" pages. I'm using the latest Firefox and doesn't seem to matter whether my VPN is connected or not.

Never had the issue at work where I use Chrome or on my phone using FF mobile (even on the same network where I get the capcha loop)

Hey all,

The original Captcha issues we were having last week was due to a development error and it was stopping people from logging in/registering on the forums. The Captcha you're currently seeing is the new one we've established in order to fix log-in/registration issues (due to the Captcha Loop). If you click the 'keep me signed in' option when logging in, you won't need to confirm the captcha every time you come on to the site.

And as soon as I posted that, I was locked out of the forum again. On a whim, I just now decided to clear out Anandtech's stored cookies. Seems to have worked, but we'll see if I get locked out again.

Was locked out the forum again. Remembered to clear my cookies, and bam, I can visit Anandtech again.

So the problem is due to some redacted with Anandtech's cookies.

I've had this problem a few months ago and it just showed up again. Clearing cookies did it. But last time I couldn't get in with firefox. Had to login with IE and noticed there was an image like type the numbers you see on the sign thing that wouldn't show up in Firefox. Oddly yesterday I was logged out of the forums for some unknown reason and had to log back in, and I made sure I had keep me logged in checked yesterday

Just had it again, was locked out of the forums until I cleared my 150 Anandtech cookies.

Huh, I just had to do the ReCaptcha two or three times thus far, "Suspicious Activity Detected".

Ok, my style for browsing these forums, is to just browse the main header thread and sub-forum header pages, and then "Open in new tab" for each thread. So I end up, over a span of possibly a week or two, with HUNDREDS of AT forum tabs. (Thankfully, I have a powerful desktop rig.)

Anyways, I recently had reason to re-boot (GPU issue), so then I had to re-login, and then I set about closing those extra tabs, which, of course, loads the tab, then closes it. I can click them about one per second or slightly faster, so possibly that's why I got flagged.

Posting this thread, I keep getting "security" pop-ups. Let me clear my cookies.
