My HTPC consists of the following specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Socket 754
Seagate 80GB 7200.9 SATA
ATI AIW X1900
1GB Corsair Value Ram
Audigy 2 ZS
Gigabyte NF4 Ultra Motherboard
The operating system is MCE 2005 with SP2
The only software i have installed are:
Cyberlink PowerDVD 6
XP Codec Pack
Winamp
After a fresh install with the latest device drivers, I went to configure the MCE TV signals and the guide. After everything is done and closing the multimedia centre, i checked the task manager to find my CPU utilization to hovering around 75% ~ 90% even when the system is idling. It also affects any TV i record as it starts to drop frames.
What could be the cause? I checked task manager, there is no single process eating up all the CPU cycles, but the CPU usage just remains at 75~90% all the time 🙁
