I have posted once before about 4-6 mo ago on this.....I run winxp pro now with sp2...I have a had a problem where by HDD is constantly active....(thi ocurred with sp1 too)
It appears to be related winxp processes...crss.exe, winlogo.exe and svchost.exe...
I have turned off my ups program that saves files in case of failure, antivirus, spysweeper, go back ...these are in my winxp pro icon tray...
I have run Spysweeper with nothing being found...my last anitivirus check was fine using NOD32
I recently reinstalled SP2 and it seemed to stop..then reocurred...so I tried to reinstall SP2 again...but this last time I get the same issue
The system is at idle(except for spysweepr, NOD32 and GoBack,UPS software in tray icon...open taskmanager and none of the programs are showing any I/O read/writes...but crss.exe, sometimes winlogon and svchost.exe. are showing active read/writes...it never seems to stop)
The hdd has constant activity.....help
I have tried to shutdown all the open processes in taskmanager one at a time but some can not be shutdown since they are critical processes per winxp pro
any ideas or suggestions would be great
I realize I may have wipe my hdd and do a reinstall ..ugh
