Constant hard disk acess in win2k?

Ever since i upgraded to win2k several days ago, the hard drive accessing light has been on costantly. I am running an ibm deskstar 40gb gxp. Is this constant access normal? I dont hear any sound from the hd though.
 
I have 192 mb of ram, although my new 256mb stick of pc133 should be here monday some time. And what is sp2?
 
This is why I hate Windows 2000. It constantly accessed HD either to write or to read something. With all its background services running, I couldn't figure out why it was doing it. It's very annoying, isn't it?..

i did a format and clean install of win2k. i also just downloaded service pack 2. The access light is still on constantly . . . maybe not a big deal. BTW: will sp2 let me use my burner? I could use it before. (havent bothered to check yet, its late)
 
Win2k recognizes optical drives out-of-the-box unlike Mac OSX. :Q

Be wary of installing Roxio EZ-CD5 in Win2k before reading this important news bulletin.
