Constant freezing in WinXP-->now screwed **fixed**

when i first got my pc running, it would randomly freeze up, and the mouse and keyboard would turn off (lights off on MS optical mouse, num lock off on keyboard, no response from either). a simple flash of the BIOS fixed it, and all was running smoothly, up until the past week or so. windows started randomly freezing again, the same way it used to, although not nearly as frequently. but it started happening more and more these past few days. so i thought i would flash the BIOS again to the newest update, since that seemed to do the trick last time.

BUT, after a seemingly successful flash, the system froze up constantly. it would go through POST, and get through the WinXP loading screen, but then it eventually froze again, sometimes right after the loading screen, sometimes when the desktop showed, and sometimes after a minute or two of working. so it was 100 times worse after the BIOS flash.

i tried to flash the BIOS again with the same update version, but this time clear the CMOS in the process (i didn't clear it the first time) using EZWinFlash. and, of course, the system froze while the flash was working, and now i cant even get to POST, can't get into the BIOS, and my keyboard and mouse don't work. so basically the only thing i can do is boot with the system disk, but my keyboard doesn't work, so i can't even do anything at the DOS prompt. anyone have any suggestions to get me un-screwed?

heres my specs, if that helps:

P4 2.26Ghz Northwood
AOpen AX4G Pro mobo (old BIOS v1.04, new BIOS v1.06)
Enermax 431W PS
WinXP Pro

P.S. I can't get to POST because a BIOS ROM checksum error comes up. I physically reset the CMOS on the mobo jumper, but same result.
