My new Duron system recently started freezing and random times. I'm not sure if it is the Operating system (Win 98 SE) or hardware based. Every 15 min, or more it will just freeze, not allowing me to do anything. If I'm listening to a CD or mp3, it continues to play until I shut down. It won't let me Cntrl Alt Delete out, I have to hit the restart button on my case.

think you should try bringing the speed down? are you monitoring the temperature of your duron?

Same thing here bud. It disapered when I lowered the speed from 800Mhz to 650 with default voltage...I'm not sure if increasing the voltage would help cos win2k is rock stable when using bench and burn in proggy but sometimes even while browsing the net it would freeze exactly like u said @800...:(

TheNemesis,

If you weren't having the freeze problem before you unplugged your cpu fan then I would say you fried your Duron. :(

No I really doubt it, I left it on when I was out for about 3 hours, Just got back and the temp is 30 C and no crashes. Strange
