Everytime I restart the PC, Windows runs a disk check on one of my drives eventhough the PC didn't crash. How do I stop this pointless check? I am using WinXP

The disk check having to run every time on only one disk could be an indication that there is a problem developing with the drive itself.

Something is corrupting the dirve info and the normal "diskchek" is unable to correct it in the beginning or it is happening while your system is up.

Does the problem happen when you bring the system up and down quickly or just after you have used it.

If your BIOS on that MSI K8N Platinum is anything like the BIOS on my DFI nF4, there's a setting in there for whether or not to run a HDD check on bootup.

Look in your BIOS. If that option is selected, clear it.
