Constant Crashing

My games crash all the time. I was just at a LAN and the game would just randomly crash to the desktop for no reason. I have tried so many different things to fix the problem but nothing has worked. Everyone there told me it must be my motherboard, although I thought my ABIT NF7 was really good. Maybe not? I don't think it's my video card, because I had a GeForce 3 Ti500 before my Radeon I have now and it was still crashing then. Also, I just recently reformatted and that didn't fix the problem. Here are my specs:

Athlon XP 2700+
512MB DDR333
Radeon 9800 Pro
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer
60GB Maxtor
480W Power Supply
AVG CPU TEMP: 122
AVG CASE TEMP: 82

Fezz, welcome to Anandtech forums! Enjoy your stay here.

What kind of ram are you using? What's your processor core (Barton or Tbred), what voltage is it set at, and what's the ram voltage? (You can find those in the bios hopefully).

Does this occur in multiple games, or just one? Are you overclocking at all? Try downloading memtest86 (Google it) and check to see if any of your memory is bad. You shouldn't have any errors at all.

What kind of PSU is that? What voltages does it put out for 3.3, 5 and 12v rails? Is that temperature in Celsius or Farenheit (probably F, but just gotta make sure 🙂) Is that 122F on idle or full load? What settings is your memory running at? Voltages for CPU and memory?

Basically we need a lot more information than just what you provided. Computer problems contain so many parts to it, its amazing it actually works to begin with. Any one problem anywhere can cripple a computer.

Welcome to Anandtech 🙂

Okay, I'll write down all this stuff you guys need to know and get back to you in a minute.

.....

Okay, I here we go:

CPU CORE VOLTAGE 1.60v
DDR SDRAM VOLTAGE 2.6V
CHIPSET VOLTAGE 1.6V
AGP VOLTAGE 1.5V

MEMORY TIMINGS
ROW ACTIVE DELAY - 7
RAS-TO-CAS DELAY - 3
ROW-PRECHARGE DELAY - 3
CAS LATENCY TIME - 2.5

+5v ------------- 5.05V
+12V------------ 12.03V
-5V--------------- -5.2V
-12V-------------- -12.03V

I turned off fast write and changed it back to 4X, but UT2k3 still crashed.

Oh yeah, I have a Thermaltake Power Supply.

sadly, most sure fire method of testing is the process of elimination. ask a friend to let you test using some of his parts. if you trade ram, and still crash? its not ram. etc.
