Constant BSOD with Acoustic Edge + Win2K?

I just picked up an edge and have popped it in my system. The driver installation went flawlessly and, after finishing, I went online and updated them to the latest. In the first version of the drivers, I couldn't even play a sound without my system going to a BSOD. On the latest drivers, the event sounds in Windows (startup, errors, etc.) will play and anything that came in the test suite with the card will play (the sound test page and Sonic Foundry will work). Trying to play mp3 files in Windows Media Player, however, will cause a BSOD. So will things like trying to load a page with a midi on it. I've reloaded the card 3 times, moved the slots, and checked for conflicts, but none of this seems to be the problem. Any suggestions?

Also, does anyone know how to cause the card to use all the sound channels? I have it hooked up right and the settings set to 5.1 (as my DTT 2500 set is hooked up), but pushing the test buttons in the speaker test page only plays sound for the front left and front right speaker - all else is silence. Please help!

Thanks,
Shawn

Not sure...It works fine for me in Win2K. How do you know the BSOD are being caused by the AE? What does the error message say? Have you called Philips, they are very helpful.

I haven't called Philips yet, but I'm positive it's caused by the edge - my system was fine before it and the error I get lists the file tbirdhd.sys as the file that causes the problem. I can't remember the error right now, so I guess I'm off to force another BSOD upon myself 🙂

In my last setup, I had an SBLive value in dual boot with 98SE / 2K Pro, but when I took it out, I did a full upgrade of the parts in my system. After that, I formatted my drive and reinstalled 2K freshly (no sound card in the system). Until the new card was installed, the system worked perfectly.
