Constant Bootup Restart

heard some beeps coming from the computer for the past two days. unsure of source. system would freeze and require restart soon after hearing beeps. once or twice a day.

yesterday, after starting up computer, windows attempts to load up. after the progress bar for windows xp seems to end, i quickly see an XP "blue screen of death" - the one where i believe it says something like there's a software or hardware problem. after seeing that screen momentarily, the computer self-restarts and continuously repeats the same process over and over again.

any ideas? some said it could be my power supply. the computer has been cleaned of dust and there doesn't seem to be any processor or motherboard overheating.

i wouldn't want to replace any hardware unless absolutely necessary. thanks in advance

what are the specs of the beeping now restarting bsod computer?
is anything overclocked?
have you added anything to the computer hardware-wise?
try running memtest86+ on the computer, since its beeping im guessing something hardware-wise is loose? are all fans spinning properly? (videocard?) try reseating things like the cpu, ram, videocard.. memtest will easily show if memory is failing..
can you boot into safemode?

Specs:
MSI neo4 platinum
amd 3500+
2x512 corsair valueselect
seagate sata 120gb & 250gb
ultra 500watt x-connect power supply
nvidia 6600gt

i havent added any new hardware in the past 3-4 months. nothing is overclocked. i attempt to boot into safemode (the option to comes up) but the same thing happens. all fans seem to be working.

the beeps sounded like very faint versions of the bootup beep that occurs when you turn on the computer. they weren't in any real sequence nor were constant.

so you say i should load memtest onto a floppy and try that next?

thanks for the quick response.

i haven't heard the faint beeps ever since i haven't been able to load windows properly. however, the beep at POST still occurs every time i start up the computer, including when i tried restarting without the hard drives connected like you suggested.

i have reason to suspect it is my 120gb hard drive (the drive with windows xp installed on it). ive had clicking sounds come from that drive before and other problems, did a diagnostic a while back and said it had bad sectors. are those beeps/clicking sounds possibly from the hard drive failing? maybe it finally went out on me.
