I have to wonder why the press went so easy on bushlite all the way through this election. There was talk about them going easy because they did not want the public to think they were attacking the man just because he is a Republican. In other words, they were not going to get the ire up of the conservatives by playing into their hands.

I have another theory, one rather insidious. The press is setting this poor guy up to take a fall. They are going to do this as retribution for all the crap Clinton had to take for 8 years from the Republicans.

Now, I am probably totally wrong (I really hope I am, because Bush's administration is going to be crippled badly enough by this election), but what happens if "revelations" about Bush's business dealings and character start to surface shortly after he takes the oath of office?

Check this website out:

Are these the skeletons the press drags out of Bush's closet????

If only one tenth of this stuff is true, I can see a firestorm of criticism surround the guy and hound him until he is run out of office. And if only one tenth of it were true, why did the press not hammer him with it? I have a real hard time believing that they did not jump all over his DUI, when PBS reported it first during the primaries. There must have been good reason for the press to leave this guy alone.

Then again, if one tenth of the stuff on that web site is true, they are going to sell a LOT of newspapers in the next four years! It is going to be very interesting to see what happens now.

Oh, and before the conservatives light the flame throwers: I know that this website cannot be taken as gospel. I also know that everything on this site cannot be a total fabrication...for a lot of it is backed up in the "traditional press."

If you think Bush is skinny now, wait till he goes through 4 years of torture at the hands of the press. He'll be ready for St. Elizabeth's.

Only a completely daft human would want to become President under the current set of circumstances. The smartest thing Gore could do for himself is to concede.

Then both Gore and Bush are still in the running then. ;)

I watched Conspiracy Theory a couple nights ago. I also rented Showgirls, & Frequency. I only have one thing to say:

Julia Roberts is gorgeous.

She can investigate my conspiracy any time she wants to.

Well, Russ...I almost hope you are right. But these nasty little stories keep cropping up, don't they? I do recall a lot of Democrats having the same kind of attitude when Jennifer Flowers first hit the scene. We will just have to wait and see.

Boberfett: Yawn: Still making perspicacious comments, I see.

No more than the ones that crop up about Bore, and fewer than those about Slick Willy. If you're hoping that Bush will end of with more sleaze on the plate then Clinton, you're dreaming.

No, Russ, I am not dreaming...and I am not hoping either. I am just wondering what the press is going to do to this guy after he takes office.

<< I'm Typing: Still muckraking pointlessly, I see. >>

Not exactly. But leave it to you and yours to think that muckraking is a derogatory term.

Yeah all the press got together and conspired against dubs. Sure that's it. If there was anything to it they would be over it. All reporters want to get the scoop on the next guy so they wouldn't hold off because of some large conspiracy.

Apparently you think it's an honorable pastime.

Does anybody else think that I'm Typing might be a bald, ugly cuss with a horrible southern accent?

I'm,
The Bush supporters on this forum would be proud to follow G.W. to hell and back. No matter what is brought forth or eventually proven, the "parisans" will just deny, and find extenuating circumstances, exactly like the dems did with Clinton. You are entirely correct, I said in the early 90's that Clinton's escapades with Flowers and others was probably not just rumors and should have been enough to question his integrity. The same can be said of George. I fear that there is something more here too, perhaps the after effects of alcohol or drug abuse, because at times he simply loses his clarity of thinking.

Bober: I am sure you were at the front lines protesting the muckraking the Republican party did on Clinton, right???

Oh, I am sorry, forgot that you and yours love to apply the ol' double standard when it comes to YOUR lapdogs.

I'm an independent. Both major parties can kiss my ass. They both play the same games, and the American people suffer for it.

And as far as double standards, you seem to be the king there. Would you like me to go back and count the number of anti-Bush threads you've started compared to the number of your anti-Gore threads? They're both liars and cheats, bent on only one thing: personal gain. Oh I forgot, Gore has his dick so far up your ass that it'd take a team of surgeons to remove him. You'd never say anything against the pride and joy of the Democrats, now would you?

Hmmm...where does it say in the definition that muckraking is party-specific?

So let us recap: I have posted up a website in this thread with a theory that journalists may be laying in wait for Bush once he becomes President. In response you:

1) Tried to downplay the thread.
2) Tried to misrepresent what I had to say.
3) Resorted to personal attacks.
And when it is all said and done: Tried to distance yourself by saying you are independent, when it is obvious you defend the Republican party.

I have never ONCE claimed to be a supporter of Bush, and have stood firmly on that ground from day one.

And it is you who accuse ME of double standards????!!!

Excuse me, I am all out of vomit, could I borrow some of yours?
