Consoles displaying artifacts

Two of my consoles have been displaying artifacts while in use. The Wii is the worst. Artifacts are pretty egregious.

The PS3 also is showing artifacts, and on a whole black levels stink now during blu-ray.

A few months ago, last fall, there was an electrical surge which damaged the main television. So when I saw artifacts I initially thought that the repair of the TV was not complete.

But...the wii still displays same artifacts hooked up to another tv (which lived through the same electrical storm fine).

Haven't tested the PS3 yet. It is very subtle in the PS3.

Anyways, I'm wondering if this could be age, or if they were damaged in the electrical surge. The Wii I could sort of understand since it is pretty old, but the PS3 is like 2-3 years old.

If the surge damaged the tv that they were hooked up to then most likely it also damaged the consoles.

You may also want to look into cleaning them as overheating can sometimes cause artifacts but if this started right after the surge my money would be on the surge.

I'm still debating...the wii definitely has problems, but the PS3 I'm not sure, since the tv is showing some light artifacts in menu screens (or is this normal operation for plasmas?) little red/pink speckles occasionally occur on white parts of the screen.

It shouldn't be that pronounced. Some Plasmas have this issue though, a quick search brought up a couple specific models that people have reported sparkles on.
