Ok, so the Wii and PS3 arent too far off and all the info i've looked at online says PS3 will have NO preoders availiable and the Wii is still up in the air...that said, i'm sure plenty of people will be camping out in front of the stores the night before they come out. Having never camped out in front of a store like this before, i was wondering if some people could explain the process, tips, etc. Specifically, has anyone done it at BestBuy, Walmart, CircuitCity, or Target (stores in my area) and is there anything special about those? Do they just open the doors and let everyone rush in, hand them out in single file line, or what? lol...it seems like there would be many fatalities if they just opened the doors and let people go insane @_@ anywho, thanks in advance :)

Nintendo will have enough Wii's available on launch day, they dont do paper launchers like M$ and Sony.

As for the PS3... if you dont have connections to some distribution channel, you arent getting one.

would be nice if i didnt have to camp for a Wii...

and for the PS3, i doubt that...there is bound to be a local store that will have one...if i camp early enough i should be able to snag one...

There will probably be enough Wiis becuase it is not using new technology. They can mass produce those things like flies on a pile of poo. As for the PS3, you just have to wait and see.

Wii shouldnt be that hard to get a hold of, but the PS3 is sort of the deal of find a well connected friend or bust.

As wazz has stated, if you don't have one ordered or some connection, you will probably be on the short end of the deal. Or your need to start camping like a week before in front of BB, CC, Target or Walmart!

Be prepared to defend yourself as I'm sure there will be people mugged in order to get their PS3s. Personally I'm not going to get one but I will probably buy the Wii not long after launch.

Wii = no shortage. I seriously doubt it

The PS3 may have a shortage, but to those saying you have to have "connections," you realize that there are realistically 700,000 coming to north america, right? The Xbox 360 was somehwat comparable, and you didn't need connections to get one. Stores like BB won't let employees buy the console, customers get them first. Most people wouldn't risk their job for a gaming console.

I believe the number was 400,000. I think Sony said 500,000 units to North America and Japan, but that doesn't sound right at all.

EDIT: just checked, IGN says 400,000 for North America and 100,000 for Japan. Looks like there's going to be some muggings...

People didn't camp out for the 360 a few hours in advance like you suggest. They were there since before store closing the previous day. At 24 hours Walmarts they had lines inside and people were waiting for 20 hours or so.

I camped out for 10 hours in front of the Target by me for my XBOX 360. Mind you that I had 5 people in front of me that had been waiting 2 hours more than me. Now factor in the fact of what percentage of PS2 owners that will want a PS3. Good luck though.
