Console n00b wondering where the #$&* can I buy a Wii?

Admittedly, I know very little about consoles. Much to my horror I'm finding Wii's are STILL sold out everywhere, and my GF wants one for Christmas. What I thought would be an easy purchase is looking like it' might be anything but.

People have these. I know people are buying them. Where should I look? Online? Local retailers?

I've seen them on Amazon. I saw them in two separate Targets today.

Go set up a Wii Alert (Google Wii Alerts), and topic alerts at Fatwallet.com and SlickDeals.net. You'll be able to find when it is available online.

I got mine on eBay with the 30% cashback deal this past weekend.

Lol, my story is not so great

walked into a walmart on an off day, id say little short than a year ago. saw 2 sitting there, i bought one and gf bought one.(she returned her's shortly later) go team go

I've seem them at Best Buy, target, walmart. No shortage here it seems. Costco as well I "think".

I still rarely see them in stores around me. I have seen them appear on Amazon, but now that it's December and getting close to Christmas you may not see them appear online for very long. Who knows?

I purchased mine during Memorial Day weekend. I walked into a Toys R Us and they literally had a stack of about 50 of them. I was amazed. I went back the next day and they still had a ton just sitting there.

Ya I just was in a Target and the guy behind the counter said they were out but would be getting some on Sunday. He indicated there would probably be a big line.

I'm going to do that alert thing. Good idea.

Late? I'm not following. I'm blown away that these things are still sold out. Is my area just an anomaly or is it really the case that these are so popular they can't keep them on the shelves?

Late? I'm not following. I'm blown away that these things are still sold out. Is my area just an anomaly or is it really the case that these are so popular they can't keep them on the shelves?

Yeah they are still selling out. However I have seen more in stores in the past few months, so either they are shipping more or its slowing down some. If they are advertised in the Sunday ads the stores usually have them, but you need to get there early in order to get one. The closer it gets to Christmas the harder they will be to find.

Well I went to Wiialerts and it took about 5 minutes to find one. I have a bundle on the way from ToysRus.com. Total with shipping was $319.
