Console connectors for XBOX360

Hi all gamers 🙂, so I will be getting a 360 and I want to hook it up with my LCD monitor (DVI input). Do you know what's the HDMI input on the 360 is? Type A? Type B? Female? Male? Thanks

Just to be thorough, by converting the HDMI to DVI you will obviously lose the convenience of having audio via HDMI. Do you have a plan for audio output?

Eventually I'll get a receiver that can decode HDMI audio and hook it up to the receiver. But for now, I just want to use it for video. I can still get DD 5.1 from the optical sound right?

That may depend on whether you get the Elite or the Premium version. If you get the Elite, you won't have any trouble at all. If you get the Premium, you may have the same problem that's detailed in this thread.

As far as I know, the optical audio dongle only comes with the Elite, but things could have changed. You can draw your own conclusions from that thread and further research, but if MS still charges $50 for the stupid dongle then I'd probably just get the Elite if I were in your situation.

I thought I saw a thread on the Xbox forums that said they were all shipping with the dongle now. Lemme see if I can find it.

Edit, of course I cant find it now so def check it out before you buy..

It would be nice if you could just switch outputs in software like the PS3.
