Can't be positive on when it started, I think it happened about the time that i upgraded my VIA drivers from the manufacturers, I uninstalled them and I'm still getting lockups or pauses playing mp3's or games. Any ideas?
Sorry, running under Windows 98SE, I have USB for like my GTXP, but that was fine well before this problem started, I ran it for a few weeks, fast as can be. And then about the time of the VIA, it started "hiccuping". Should I try to reinstall the factory drivers even though i uninstalled the upgraded ones? In order to install factory, should I uninstall whatever VIA is in my uninstall program box?
I'd check what services are running in the background. Make sure they're all required and not just some useless "kill your cpu every so often" service.
I am EXTREMELY tyrannical when it comes to my very own computer, letting "parents" and the "older generation" onto any PC I use makes me that way as you could probably guess or know from experience.
So all my startup processes are there for a reason and have been there since day one. I know what every single process that is loaded into startup is for. This isn't just the startup folder I'm talking about, HKLM, HKCU, etc...
As far as I know, I know all the processes on my computer using msconfig and a third party program that between the two I think I got it all covered.
