Considering Water Cooling

My computer is in my bed room. As a result it gets pretty hot in there. I know that since it is still using power it will still produce heat. However, if i go to watercooling, will that significantly cool down my room, as i dont have hot air circulating around.

I was considering the Zalman Reserator since it is cheap, and it is completely silent. Does anyone know if the Reserator (i assume it will, but since it is fanless im not 100% sure) will cool better than a 7700Alcu or XP series.

Yes, it's better than a 7700 series cooler.. It's still a little better than the XP series cooler from Thermalright..

Watercooling will not affect the amount of heat transferred to your room. It still has to go somewhere.......

Darn. Maybe i wont get it then :p

Will i notice a definite heat increase though. I will, hopefully, be going from my 2500+ AXP Barton @1.7V @2ghz and a 5900XT, to an A64 X2 3800+, and a 7800GT.

The Zalman Reserator is good for silence, but not for overclocking. When it comes to overclocking you'll probably get temps close to those of 7700s and XP-120s.

Lol, i just turned it back to 1.65 (Stock) and it is still running fine (nice and toasty right now).

What is the X2 3800+'s default VCORE.

I guess im not getting water cooling then. Im hoping for something that keep the heat from circulating around me room (getting an A/C unit is out of the question :p). I think i will probably just get an XP-120 or a 7700Alcu (Mod the fan and stick a Nexus there instead).

You do understand that by going to water cooling you will be increasing the amount of heat in your room? You will have all the heat from the hardware you have now, pluse the heat from the water pump. Some pumps run pretty hot, I had a cheap AquaVia that you almost couldn't touch after it had been running a couple hours.

The reserator was supposed to run fairly cool.

I dont think i am going WC after anyways. Thanks for the help everyone.

a cpu cooler won't be able to cool down your room...the heat from the cpu is just transfered to the water which still ends up going to the air (in your room). Not much point going to water, with all the risk. If you want to have good cpu cooler, then maybe wait for the zalman cnps9500, a few reviews are showing it's as good as basic water coolers.

if you want to cool down your room, turn off your computer.
thats about the best way to do it :D

there are some other ways to prevent your room from getting very hot as well.

LCD monitor instead of CRT.
use energy saving bulbs instead of regular bulbs - ive got a 6500K 20W (that replaces a 60W) bulb running now and there is negligible heat coming from it compared to a 60W bulb i was using before which added A LOT of heat to the room. i can touch the bulb after hours of use to remove it if i need to, i mean its still warm, but im not getting burned removing it.
these bulbs can be found at wal-mart and similar stores.

Also alot of people decide to go to water cooling to try to or attempt to get more over clocking out of there CPU!!
Without realizing that they have already came close to maxing the CPU`s over clocking ability with just play air cooling!!

Thus if your CPU is already maxed or close water cooling for that purpose is just a waste of money!!

If so, then wouldn't water get you lower temps with less or = noise than good air-cooling, giving you a slight increase in CPU/GPU MHz, and increasing the longevity of your chip/vga? Seems to me that around $250/$300 and the "hobby" aspect of WC'ing is well worth it.

I love water cooling, and I just setup my first WCed computer. It is fun to do and maintain.

As for JBDan's insight on cooling, I agree. I was able to lower my 6800GT temps by 35C on load. I was also able to hit an amazing 450/1200 overclock. That is above Ultra on a GT. As for the chip OC, I knocked load temps down by 14C. I have yet to hit 40C ... or even 39C.

Wow on the temps especially the 6800gt! I really can't wait to tinker with my soon-to-be-ordered WC'ing setup.

Yea, I'm enjoying it. It will be all back in the case today, but I need to sleeve alot of wires!

from the longevity stand point YES!!
But you didn`t read what I posted!!
You added your own twist to what I posted!!
Read it slowly plz!!
Comprehend what I said!!

I said--Also{which indicates an aditional take on what was being said} alot of people decide to go to water cooling to get or attempt to get more over clocking out of there CPU!!-- the additional thought
Without realizing that they have already came close to maxing the CPU`s over clocking ability with just play air cooling!!-- self explanatory--if your already maxed out using air most of the time water cooling will not give you any additional speed!
But what water cooling will do is allow you to maintain that speed longer as well as give added life to your CPU!!

Don`t get me wrong water cooling is a good thing!! But there are many times that you have a CPU that you have over clocked using whatever method be it air or water that you just can`t go any higher or faster!!
That was my main point....going from air cooling to water cooling for that reason is not worth the money!!
