Considering Water Cooling, GPU Only Loop Possible?

Hi, I'm a newbie to water cooling, and I was wondering whether it's possible to have a loop only for the GPU. Ordinarily, I would think that if you can do a CPU only water loop, there's no reason you couldn't do a GPU only loop. I did a quick search on this forum to see if anyone has mentioned GPU only cooling, and I couldn't find anything. So at the risk of sounding stupid, is it possible to only cool the GPU?

The reason I want to skip the CPU loop is because I already have an aftermarket fan on my CPU. I'm very happy with the performance of this fan, so I'd rather not replace it with a CPU water block if I can help it.

I currently have an GTX260 216, using an HAF 932 case. I don't plan on watercooling my current GPU, but maybe for my next video card when I upgrade.

You can make a single loop cool anything you want it to. I run dual water loops and one of them is exclusively for my two 480's.

inital investment is super high on water.

This is why people dont attempt it unless its for the more senstive to heat eq like your cpu.

That being said, you ened to revaluate if water is for you.

260GTX block ~ 75-100 dollars
120x1 radiator ~ 30 dollars
Pump ~ 80 dollars
Tubing and res ~ 40 dollars.
Fittings and extra ~ 30 dollars.

I dont think you want to spend that much for a little 260... sorry to say, at that bracket your best off getting a 480GTX and saying bye bye to water.

Going to agree with this post. I've considered water so many times but the cost is just too high to make it worth it IMO. I mean really like stated above what would you rather have, a water cooled 260 or a 480.

Come on guys... read his original post correctly at least.

He already said he has no intention on watercooling his 260.

I did read it correctly, and was not using the 260 as a literal example.

Lets say his GPU budget for a upgrade right now is $500, if that was watercooled it would be $275 for the GPU and $225 for the watercooling setup. Meaning he would get a 470 watercooled. But if he spent the $500 on a GPU he would end up with 460 SLI that would rock on any current single card setup, or a 480 with money left over. Same idea applies.

typically a 260 user never buys the top dog card.

which is why im trying to express it to him, unless its the top dog card, its usually not worth it to soley watercool the gpu.
