considering upgrading to vista

I am currently considering upgrading to windows vista from XP on my one and only computer - a laptop.

its specs are:
Pentium M 1.8Ghz
1.5GB Ram (Maxed out)
ATi X600
5400rpm 60GB HD

I have found vista drivers for all (i probably missed something 😱 ) of my devices, so I belive that's in order
1) How well will my hardware handle the new OS? Do I need a DX10 card to enable aero? I heard that 3GB of ram is the "sweet spot" for vista, how will 1.5GB hold up for some who multitasks a lot (usually have 5 to 10 apps open at once)

2) For readyboost, which is more important in my situation, the write / read speed of the media or the size of it? ie. which would be a better drive for me to use:

My laptop also has an intergated SD card reader, and I also have a CF card PCIMA adaptor. would a CF or SD card be a better choice to use with readyboost? I would perfer to use a CF card as I have a camera / cellphone that will use up the SD slot at times. The idea of freeing up an USB port is also appealing (can never have enough of those). Also, if the readyboost drive is suddenly yanked out, but plugged back in soon after, will the entire cache have to be reloaded onto it, or can it pick up from where it left off?

3) are there any software incompatibilties with XP software? eg. Office 2003, Adobe Photoshop, Half Life 2, iTunes, uTorrent, etc. If office 2003 can be installed, will i run into any problems with Outlook 2003 fighting with the new windows mail?
Is there anything in Office 2007 worth upgrading to?
I currently use Notebook Hardware Control to under-volt my processor and monitor system temperatures, will a program of this nature cause problems in vista if its even compatiable?

Thanks
