Current System specs:
p4 2.0ghz Northwood cpu
Asus P4S800
512mb pc2100 ram
Ati 9800 pro 128,b

I was thinking about giving my system some boost. I was thinking about purchasing a P4 2.4c and a gig of pc3200 ram. I mean would I see a big difference in gaming at all? Thanks in advance

would make a difference just not a huge difference.

have you tried overclocking at all? if you could get your chip to even 2.2ghz I would save your money and upgrade too a A64 when you can afford it

You would definitely notice it. The question is whether or not it's worth the money. You'll have to decide that. Looking at benchmarks, the 2.4 killed the 2.0 even at 400mhz bus, so the 2.4C will definitely kill it.

The 2.4C also overclocks well, I believe. It will also give you hyperthreading, if you are into multitasking.

Don't worry too much about the AMD salesmen. They just can't help themselves. You'd think they were getting a commission. 😀

2.4C are very good ocers. They usually do 3.2~3.3 on stock vcore. I would strongly recommend at least getting PC-4000 memory if you plan to oc, the best would PC-4400.
