Well im going to have to make a decision on whether to go back to college in september or enroll in the Canadian forces. One of my friends is already an electronics technician for the air force and he has his own house... My other friend is enrolling after he gets his laser eye surgery in a few months.

Another option would be to finish my degree and then enroll as an officer in 3 years.... If I want to enroll to go to military college it wont be untill next year tho and im not sure if finishing school or going to RMC is even worth it in the end..

Then there is the fact that people are afraid I might end up in Afghanistan and die or something....

Life altering choices... dont you all hate them....

Finish your degree and enlist as an officer. Otherwise you'll spend the rest of your life polishing their tank. :p

Get your degree. You may end up not wanting to join after College and getting out is harder than getting in.

Wiki is wrong in this situation. All of our MBTs are being replaced in a hurry by Strikers. (LAV-3 APCs with 105MM guns)

I'm a Corporal with the CF Reserves (Field Artillery). I've been in more than 3 years now. If you want my advice, JOIN AS AN NCM (Non-comissioned Member). If you want to go officer from there, more power to you. The officers we get straight from RMC are TERRIBLE. Thankfully, all my battery's officers are from the ranks, so they know the shens we get up to.

I gotta pimp the Army. We're very well trained, and now is the absolute best time to be in the Forces, with all the money coming our way.

Feel free to PM me if you have more questions

Join right away and then get a commission. Being enlisted isn't so bad and it'll give you a better perspective of how the military works. Going straight for the O is decent but while I was in I respected prior-enlisted more than others.

Your decision is going to be based on your particular circumstances. You need to talk to a recruiting agent who can look at your particular and advise you. If you got the smarts' go for officer, otherwise you can also get a rewarding career as an enlisted man in your field of interest. The pay and benefits are very good and improve all the time. I did 23 years as a radio tech and enjoyed my time in the forces. Good luck.
