considering buying a motorcycle...

here is my situation.... the place I'm going to be living in next semester is going to be 3 miles away from campus. I don't know any existing bike paths to school and taking the bus (even though it's free) is not an option, as i hate the bus and it usually doesn't fit my schedule. Parking is a pain for cars and the parking permit costs 80 bucks (which is nothing but still, they sell more permits than they could).

So the option of getting a motorcycle licence and buying a used motorcycle comes to mind. nothing fancy, I dont need a lot of hp as I won't be racing at all. I don't like mopeds though. motorcycles get great gas mileage so that's a big plus. I'm 20 and I don't know how insurance is going to work out. I'm not going to be riding it from my home, either, so I don't know if I could rent a trailer from uhaul and just haul it there. Has anyone been in similar situations and what did you do?

Cycling to school is always an option if there are indeed safe bikepaths...

If you think $80 is too expensive the costs of getting a motorcycle (insurance, maintenance, helmet, etc) will be more expensive 😛

I think a bicycle would be a far more practical/cheaper alternative. Plus its only 3 miles... 😀

Either way... bicycle or motorcycle... its bus time for you when it rains unless you like riding in the wet with a bunch of drivers who forgot how to drive when it rains in California. 😕
