Considering buying a gaming monitor in addition to my U2713HM, need feedback

I bought a Dell U2713HM about a year ago, and I've really enjoyed the colours and resolution for a number of tasks, but as a gaming monitor I very much dislike it due to the exceedingly apparent ghosting/motion blur.

Lately I've been toying with the idea of buying a gaming monitor, but since I don't want to spend exorbitant amounts on one, I feel limited to 1080p non-Gsync variants.
I've got a bunch of questions and doubts, so I'm hoping some people on this forum have made a similar transition and might relieve some of them.

To be clear, what I want to do is keep my Dell for everything except gaming, with an additional monitor sitting next to it.

I'm somewhat concerned that;
1) I might actually end up simply using one of them for everything
2) going back to 1080p TN would be a terrible step down from having been used to glorious (ghosting aside) 1440p IPS gaming
3) it might be silly when buying a gaming monitor to forego G-Sync
4) not sure if there are any technical difficulties with running two different monitors with two different refresh rates and resolutions

Also don't know which monitor to go for, but I feel it would make sense to resolve these issues before figuring that out.

I have a NEC PA242W-BK. I plan on purchasing a Asus PG279Q soon as it is available. In the meantime I have an HP ZR24w. I use both all the time.

Regarding your concerns:

1) I use two monitors all the time. I have email client, Twitter, Slack and TV window on one monitor. I also place the toolbars for Adobe on the second monitor. As a developer I find it more productive to have two screens all the time

2) I only use IPS monitors. I cannot stand TN monitors and avoid them. I rather pay more for the IPS monitors. I find given the amount of time I spend in front of a screen I have less eye fatigue with IPS monitors

3) I fully plan to use a G-Sync.

4) Nope, no issues. I have not had any problems. However, I do use http://www.actualtools.com/ Actual Window Manager. It makes it very easy to run games on your gaming monitor and everything else on your other monitor. Plus, you can get the multi-desktop features if you have specific desktop you want setup. For example, I have one setup for all my programming tools.

Now, with Windows 10, it may get even better for multi-monitor support and I may not need Actual Window Manager but I am waiting until Window 10 released to decide.

IPS is completely and totally overblown. I've seen TN panels with colors as good as average IPS panels. The only definitive advantage to IPS you can count on in every monitor is viewing angles. And of course people consistently forget TN has inherent advantages of faster refresh times and significantly less ghosting.

Each individual monitor must be evaluated on its own right and not some blanket "IPS GOOD TN BAD" nonsense.
