Considering a Linux distro to play kids games and edu software

For years I've been maintaining Windows PCs for kids at a childcare center. The games are the kind you can download like Luxor, SpongeBob, Wonderland, Jumpstart, etc.
I want to be able to run these on a Linux distro.
Recommendations?

I installed edubuntu and wine on my son's machine. Installation was a breeze on his relatively old school computer (1GHz/Intel 815EGEW). Even wireless networking worked fine. But Wine couldn't play "Tonka Search & Rescue 2". I am thinking of installing WinXP Home on his machine. I can use Linux only in my workstations (and file server) at home, as I don't play games any more.

If the computer is going to be used to play Windows games it is easier to go with Windows. If the computer is going to be used for learning purposes edubuntu should serve the purpose.

I've never seen any learning going on at that childcare center. I wish I could at least use JumpStart software on linux.
