Considering a console. Xbox or PS3?

For this reason I say if he really wants to play FF13 he might want to get the Xbox 360 version which (to the best of my knowledge) has no freezing issues at all. The resolution is a weeeeeeeeeee bit lower and you'll have 3 DVDs to swap but other than that it runs fine (or so I hear).

The FFXIII bricking consoles isn't a problem that is very rampant from what I've heard. I know numerous (around 10) who have it and not a single problem. I've had no issues on my 80gb George Foreman, and I know both Slim versions don't have problems either. Also, from what I've come to believe, the PS3 version is superior in all aspects. My fiance has the 360 version and it loads slower, is lower res, and has multiple discs.

Yeah but since the 360 has mutliple discs it weighs more, yet still has the same price tag. So really on a $/lb basis the 360 wins.

You are also getting at the least 3 times as much for the same amount of money. I know the Xbox360 game packaging is more than the PS3's as well.

I've also noticed that the 360 games I buy new usually have at least 2, sometimes even 3 security stickers sealing the case... where as the PS3 games I've bought have usually had 1. That makes unboxing a much more compelling and rewarding experience on the 360 as your anticipation mounts for finally getting those discs out into the open. Unboxing a PS3 game OTOH is more like my first sexual experience... over too quickly to enjoy it. :\

I bought it for the PS3 given it has no online capability, it looks better and is all on one disc. Given the lack of any online capability, the fact that my friends all got it for the 360 (and most don't even own a PS3 anyway), it was fine. I buy most multi-platform games for the XBOX 360 anyway.

Are you guys serious? Basing a game for a console as to how much it weighs and how many discs there are and how a game package opens? Thats a criteria? Wow, I mean just wow.

As a Life I'd think you'd have a working sarcasm meter. How can you survive 10,000+ posts here without one?

Seriously? Wow, I mean just wow. I'm rarely stunned by people's stupidity, but you sir have done it. I don't know what to say. I mean anybody with even a single neuron firing could pick up on the joke, but you (in a medical miracle) have managed to assemble enough working brain matter together to work a computer yet somehow have missed one of the most obvious joke conversations I've ever been a part of.

I'm not even sure which doctors to call, as they'll all be fighting over such an interesting specimen. I mean that post shows you should be doing nothing more than drooling on the keyboard with your helmet on backwards, yet here you are trying to figure out if we truly do judge a game based on its weight. It truly is a miracle.

Oh, in case I'm being too subtle again:

I WAS FUCKING JOKING

Wait, you mean you weren't being serious gorcorps? Wow

I guess our conversation was about as serious as the thread that has been done a million times.

Really want to play ff13. It's a no go on pc. Which one has the best graphics? Xbox or Ps3? How much of a drop off am I gonna see compared to pc gaming?I just need the basic versions and one controller with some online capability. How much is xbox or ps3 gonna cost and best place to buy?

You have a vary powerful gaming PC so I wouldn't get a 360. It's not like there's anything wrong with it. Most 360 games do end up getting ported to PC, so you get all the perks associated with that. Higher res, better detail, cheaper games, sometimes additional content thrown in.

The PS3 has a good crop of worthwhile exclusives that keep me coming back to it. Games like Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, Infamous, etc. That's what makes it worthwhile to a PC gamer. It's also a very respectable Blu-ray player and media centre. It's $299.

Na man, I was totally being serious. I just really wanted to RAGE at somebody. Don't tell him though.

Now to get back to packaging:
The 360 games usually come in a semi-transparent green, which while cool can really clash with the decor if you like to keep your games viewable. When they turn "greatest hits" however they are in a grey/silver case.

PS3 games come in a nearly clear colorless case, and the greatest hit games come in a darker red that can again clash with the decor.

So really you need to buy your games according to your living room color scheme. If I buy new I have to get the PS3 as the lime green totally won't work. If it's an older greatest hits however, I'll get the more neutral 360 case. That way my entire game collection is nice and color coordinated.

Ah, ok, I was probably drinking too much glenlivet when I read this. 🙂

If I was forced to buy one console it would be the Playstation 3 for one reason and one reason alone.

Twisted Metal

Very true. That, and IMO God of War 3 has one of the most epically awesome games I've ever played. And I wasn't even that blown away from the first 2. Ratchet and Clank are also faves of mine. PS3 definitely has the upper hand in exclusives right now for my tastes.

Question tho, I have a PS3 (received as a gift 9 months ago) and havent bought a game except for FF and really hated that game. I use it mostly for BR. I did get uncharted but that game hard-locked the PS3 everytime so I sent it back. Anyway, I downloaded GOW3 demo and while the game looked great I felt it was just a button-mashing game so I never got it, then the reviews came out and it gets a ten, so tell me, is the demo a good representation of the game or is it much better than what the demo show?

Most of my gaming is done on the PC and 360 only because I had them way longer than the PS3, but the 360 exclusives are pretty weak ATM so I am looking to start using the PS3 more. All my friends have a 360 so I cant ask them about PS3.

I didn't play the demo, so I can't say personally how they stack up. I will say that from what I read the demo didn't highlight the better parts of the game... and actually included one of the WORST parts (the guitar hero puzzle thing).

If you keep the difficulty at normal then you could probably get through with button mashing, however at higher difficulty you really need to know some combos and which weapons work best against which enemies/situations. It should be on sale for $30 at gamestop for just a little while longer too, so I'd jump on it before it shoots up to $50 again.

The demo was very unfinished. The specific part you play is a button mashing part, followed by an annoying flying part. The guitar hero part was not in the demo, just the Helios "fight" and the funnel flight after.

I would say, button mashing will only get you so far. Once you encounter bosses, button mashing will do next to nothing. Even on normal a few enemies and most bosses are immune to button mashing. Zeus will destroy you if you just try and button mash.
