Considering a console. Xbox or PS3?

Really want to play ff13. It's a no go on pc. Which one has the best graphics? Xbox or Ps3? How much of a drop off am I gonna see compared to pc gaming?I just need the basic versions and one controller with some online capability. How much is xbox or ps3 gonna cost and best place to buy?

get whichever you want, not what random strangers on an internet forum tell you to get.

and seriously you should probably at least do a tad bit of research on your own before making a thread like this which has been posted 489320432 times before.

This topic has been posted to death...literally.

FF13 will look better on the PS3 although the game does brick some consoles. Of course there's going to be a graphical drop off vs. PC and it will be big, if you want basic console w/online get the PS3 since you'll be paying for the 360's online capabilities.

So you come posting a topic that has been beaten like a red-headed step child, that you could easily find on the internet anywhere, that never has a definite answer, that is completely opinionated, and call the people who post tweens?

Haha. Stick to PC gaming.

Maybe read this forum for the other 200 topics on this?

Things change. What was the best back then might not be true today. I'm asking for opinions of course there isn't a definitive answer. So far I've gathered the ps3 has better graphics and free online playing? Is that correct?

This really does get posted about once a week, and you did neglect to give us much background to help you decide.

PS3:
- FF13 will look a little better
- Blu-ray
- Don't need to pay $40/year fee for online and Netflix streaming

360:
- Currently get 250 GB of disk space instead of just 120 GB
- 2-3 times as many people playing online for most cross-platform games

Besides that it's:
- Which controller do you prefer?
- What other games on each console would you play, especially exclusives?
- Which big, evil, soulless corporation do you hate more?

Price is $300. You could get the 360 arcade version but you want the Eilte so you can load the game on the hard drive instead:
- DVD-ROM screaming in your console as you play is unpleasant.
- Load times are longer
- No Netflix with just the Arcade (I think) <-- not true, arcade is fine you just need Live Gold at $30-40/year

The consoles themselves haven't changed with the exception of cosmetics.

And for your question the answer is yes, for FF13 the PS3 has better graphics, but it does brick some consoles so play at your own risk. PS3 has free multiplayer but is widely considered "inferior" to the 360's. Since you're looking for basic online it should be fine though.

-360 Slim and Jasper Arcade's DVD unit is very quiet.
-Load times (especially when installed) are typically shorter on the 360
-You should have Netflix with the Slim Arcade but you do have to have a Gold subscription
-PS3's BluRay holds alot more data (no multi-disc games) and is a nice extra.

lol ...

so you are saying you want everything handed to you on a silver platter.

gotcha.

sounds pretty normal for 'elitist pc' gamers, you should stick with it since you fit right in.

Netflix works fine on an Arcade, not sure were you got that from?

I swear if they ever invent some kind of website where you can enter some sort of query in and it scours the internet for what you're looking for, I will rejoice.

Seriously, just look up the features of each console and get which ever suits you the best.

My August 2009 Jasper DVD drive is not quiet at all. The fans are also not very quiet, I can hear them from 7 feet away on my couch while watching Netflix

MS uses multiple suppliers for fans and DVD drives, some are quiet some are not.

Yeah, although I did say Arcade 😀. My buddy has a Jasper Elite that sounds like a 747, my arcade unit is very quiet though.

The Slim's though are marketed as having very quiet drives, I'm sure in large part due to the number of complaints over drive noise with previous models.

This, I played ~15 hours and not much has changed in the gameplay. It is now collecting dust with my PS3.

I have FF13 for the PS3. i wish i could get 15 hours into it. it keeps freezing 3 hours into it.

NO other game or movie i have tried has effected the ps3 (yes i have good cooling). it rather piss's me off.

i pay $59 for the damn game i can't play and both sony and square refuse to do a damn thing besides blame the other (though i really don't blame sony).

other then that i LOVE my ps3. teh netflix download is great

For this reason I say if he really wants to play FF13 he might want to get the Xbox 360 version which (to the best of my knowledge) has no freezing issues at all. The resolution is a weeeeeeeeeee bit lower and you'll have 3 DVDs to swap but other than that it runs fine (or so I hear).

I wouldn't be so sure of that, pc gamers are the first ones to bash a console gamer, plus you have a ton of cheaters on pc, that's the reason why I went to console. I play with 10 real life friends that are all above 23 years old so the tween pollutant isn't a issue for me
