I ?m posting this for those of you planning on purchasing a new blu-ray player. Just a little reminder that both the LG BD300 and the Samsung BD-2500/BD-P2550, besides being first-rate blu-ray players, will also stream Netflix ?watch now? content if you have a high-speed Internet connection. I?ve got a BD-P2500 and the Netflix watch now content works like charm.
The quality of the Netflix content isn?t anywhere near as good as blu-ray, but there is a lot of HD content available (and the promise of lots more to come) It?s really great for catching up on HD television that you might have missed. I?m currently watching Season One of Heroes in HD and it looks pretty good. My only real complaint is that it does not include even a basic 5.1 soundtrack, only stereo.
The ?watch now? content is free with my 3 DVD Netflix subscription, which is an unbelievable value. If you are going to buy a blu-ray player anyway, I can?t think of any reason why it shouldn?t be one with Netflix streaming capability.
