Considering a 780, can I use both DVI-I and DVI-D ports for my monitors?

I am considering both Lightning and Classified 780 cards.

I have a 120hz and 1440p monitors that both connect via DVI-D. Currently I have two 7950s, with one DVI-D cable going into each cards' DVI-D slot.

I have Googled if DVI-I ports can be used with "D" cables, and the sanswers said usually, depending on the card. I assume with these being high end cards that the DVI-I port could be used for one of my monitors so I can have both connected at once.

Is this correct? Also, which is considered the best card between Lightning and Classified? I know EVGA has a great warranty policy and good customer service, but I am asking about the performance of the cards themselves which is the best?

The Classified has 16 phases
The Lightning has 20 phases
Both are about the same with noise and temps (I think)
Classified used to have higher mem OC potential but then they switched vram (I think)
Lightning should have higher OC potential overall.

DVI-D cables will work in DVI-I ports, they just won't carry the analog signal carried over DVI-I.
Should work fine across the 2 screens.
