Considering 3 Mobos for 920

Trying to pick one of the 3 for my new i7 build.
Requirements: 2 pci slots and the ability to get to 4GHz.

So far I'm looking at an ASUS P6T SE for 175$, a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P for 220$, and an EVGA X58 E758-A1 for 210$.

From some Egg reviews it looks to me like the P6T SE has high failure rates though. Can anyone verify?

Any recommendations/warnings/things I should know?

For completely inexplicable reasons I'm liking the ASUS one best. I thought that board was well north of $200? $175 sounds like a very good price. I suppose ASUS and Gigabyte are neck and neck for the most part, but I don't like the way Gigabyte segmenting its products in $20~30 intervals for no good reasons.

What happened to the EVGA mATX? I seriously considered that board earlier this year.

Edit: Nevermind. Missed the PCI requirement.

The ASUS is on ebay and I'm rather weary of ebay in general even though the seller has great feedback.

No, there is no reason not to go with EVGA. I just thought its products are slightly more expensive than similar products from others, but if price is not an issue or you can get one for a good price then I trust EVGA products and services.

eBay is probably not the right place for your build at this time. I did purchase boards from eBay in the past to satisfactory results, but they were not anything serious. (i.e. a filler board to house a left-over CPU then given to a family member, etc.) Everything else being equal, I'd take an open-box item from the Egg than from an eBay seller for my own systems.

eVGA > all imo. The price difference is so little for evga quality there.

I picked the EVGA in the end.

Reasons:

-Color scheme (it's neutral and doesn't look like a technicolor Bob Ross palette)
-Lifetime Warranty (on the A1, save some cash on the TR if you don't need the lifetime)
-Their product support is amazing even without the lifetime waranty
-As a company they are typically very OC friendly, and they have even offered me OC suggestions/tips for their products before (a CSR, not on forums)

The EVGA has a lifetime warranty as an A1 product. I would go EVGA unless the other ones have features that are absent in the EVGA that you want.

People are probably going to want to kick me but I got an ASRock X58 Extreme for 118$, I couldn't pass up a deal like that when my funds are so limited. At current it looks like I will actually have the funds to complete my build, where as before it looked like it was going to take a few weeks more.

I hope it works out. If not, I'll have to return it, and get a higher tier board.

Hey it's your PC, buy what you want, save where you want. As long as it works for you and does what you were looking for, nothing wrong with saving money.

GL with the build Plenty of people are happy with the Asrock.

When I did this build last month, I considered the P6T X.X and the Deluxe. But since I always have bought the Deluxe of the model board I needed in the past, I declined the extra money. This time I just got the standard P6T motherboard. And it became the basis for a very good, stable & fast OC machine.

For an Open Box item, the ASRock X58 Extreme I got sure seemed retail. Everything and I mean everything was in the box, even the backplate, which is what I really wanted. When you get an open box item you usually check and say 'Now why did the first buyer send it back...' I think I found out: Some of the I/Os are a little loose, as if someone tried to shove the backplate in too hard. Their actual connections to the board are fine but the plastic holding them in was loose. A little push and they're all fine. Now to get my 920.
