Here is the point. A voluntary return to sound individual finance will eventually stabilize the whole.

Will there be a time of hardship? Yes. Will that take a real leader to insist on? Yes.
The alternate is a catastrophic event that will accomplish the same result but in a very messy way.

We will either have a leader that tells us the truth, or we will have a dictator that forces us into slavery.

America will choose.

We are driving toward a cliff.
Conservative: We must stop driving, there's a cliff ahead. We were foolish to drive this far even if it looked like a good idea before.
Liberal: But if we stop driving we may stall. Therefore we should drive faster.
Democrat: We should drive faster and when we fall, blame Republicans for driving this far.
Republican: There's a cliff ahead, so we should drive more slowly than those irresponsible Democrats.
Libertarian: There's a cliff ahead; legalize drugs!
Green Party: There's a cliff ahead; let's remove the brakes because they harm Mother Gaia.
Tea Party: We're already falling, but if we fire both parties we'll begin to fly again.
