Conservatives guys Russian hacks please look

Lets keep the name calling out of this thread. That includes President Trump too.
I am very concerned about Russian interference with our election and it appears they're still fishing and we still aren't unified against this. I've also read Russians are getting disappointed in Trump, keep in mind the hacking target can be reversed or we could simply start having all Politicians do things that make Russia happy. Please review the link, while its not proof we need to figure out definitive actions to prevent it and actions to punish for it.

Hacking is not OK and all technical means to prevent it should be in place, but consider "politicians doing things to make Russia happy" and what that really means. Keeping countries out of this as well as names we have a scenario where one party finds sufficient dirty laundry to blackmail another. Blackmail is a non-starter however it could be worded this way- a whistleblower uncovers dirt and the dirty party does a quid pro quo to hush it up.

Seems to me that since things are brought to light, those who are acting improperly might want to reform and their party faithful hold them to account as well as everyone else.

Naa, ain't happening 😀

We're not going to be "unified" over this because of partisanship. Whichever side is the beneficiary of it - which is the right for now - will not stand up against it. Period. The Russians know we have this vulnerability and are exploiting it. Partisanship is a huge fissure in our democracy right now and it's threatening to tear it apart. The Russians are just helping the process along. And they aren't going to stop.

Is this a Mac vs. PC kind of thing? Hacking/exploitation is not unique to the Democratic party, nor are they necessarily more vulnerable, but damned if the Russians don't have a preference. Lending credibility to Republican conspiracy propaganda? Scary.

One makes choices in how to respond to adversity. This can be the end of the world or this can be a time to examine the situation with a critical eye and NOT circle the wagons. A chance to refresh the metaphorical tree of liberty if you will.

This is an opportunity born of adversity. We should seize upon it.

We can't and won't when we are so easily distracted day after day.

Are you actually being serious? These investigations are only a few weeks old.

And Trumps boy was talking about easing sanctions. I've yet to hear a good mix of R's say investigation is necessary. I've heard McCain & Graham but those are the exceptions plus we have a President who until recently denied it and speaks glowingly of Russia.

The onus is on ourselves to have the discipline to limit distractions and be self critical of our analysis. Weigh things as if we were wrong at the onset and find reasons in reality to support or refute any contention. Don't look at ideological peers because you will always be right. It may be that you are all wrong to one degree or another, but you might be like the French who knew their numbers in support of action against Dreyfus made them automatically correct. They were all wrong.

You and I cannot make anyone think or understand. You can present opportunity, but ultimately it is ourselves we must master first, not others.

Make an honest effort and let the world do what it must. Between the two you and it, you will have the higher ground.

So it appears that the rhetoric of some doesn't please you. Got it. /rollseyes

Its the lack of action

In one case, a non-profit group and a prominent liberal donor discussed how to use grant money to cover some costs for anti-Trump protesters

AKA the paid protesters that didnt exist...

I agree, the lack of action against these liberal groups of fraud of grant money is taking way too long. why are they not in jail?

so i point out something interesting in your OP and link that goes against your brainwashing and you say go away.

lol so much fail it hurts.

Did u recall when Paul Manafort was in charge he had Republican Party platform changed to weaken NATO in favor of Russia against Ukraine? I think it shows its ACTIONS!

Its the lack of action and appearance of nobody caring. Right now if I were a guy messing around in elections I'd have no fears.
The investigations have effectively just started and there are many Republicans that care about this. I don't know what your looking for here...do you want Rubio to set his hair on fire one more time? Anyway, this appears to be more about you and your partisan-biased perceptions of reality than anything else. Just saying.

What we should do and what we will do are different things. Roughly 40% of our population thinks that any news of Russian misdeeds is a fake. I see no hope whatsoever in this partisan environment for us to present a unified front against Russia. We're just not that country, not any more.

Don't be. I recommend listening to the latest episode of Jeremy Scahill's "Intercepted" podcast. He talks with some ex-CIA analysts about the scope of Russia's involvement/interference in the elections, and what we're reasonably certain of.

The problem with our president is not Russia. The problem is that he's an immature & malevolent idiot.

Then me and mine shall weather this as all previous generations have their own burdens. Life is good if we choose it to be.

"lack of action"

Trump asked for an extra $50b for defense spending. That will come in handy for the usa/russian conflict progressives are strangely yearning for.

At least the left is starting to tone down the trump/russia smoking gun expectation.
