Fox News commentator Bill O?Reilly and the editorial crew over at The Orange County Register often delight their conservative audiences with savage attacks on Democrats while rationalizing or ignoring Republican Party shenanigans. Take, for example, California?s recent power crisis. O?Reilly and the Register angrily blamed Democrats and environmentalists for the state?s pathetic electric-regulatory system. Never mind the system was designed by Republican power-company lobbyists in league with Republican manufacturing executives and approved in 1996 when Pete Wilson, a Republican, was governor; when Curt Pringle, a Republican, was speaker of the Assembly; and when Republicans controlled the California Public Utilities Commission.

Liberal propoganda.

Can you disprove that or are you just spouting the usual Neo Conservative Limbaughtista Propaganda yourself?

I'm betting on the latter

Did you actually read the article? It is so decisively liberal that it's blindingly apparent. I would bet that the information quoted in there regarding the electricity regulatory system, if it's even true, is only a quarter of the story at best. That article amounts to little more than hate journalism because the author obviously has an intense dislike for O'Reilly.

But, it's not Fox News so it's unbiased, right?

You don't even know if it's true or not and you are already saying that if it's true it's a best only a quarter of the story. Obviously you haven't a clue about it. There is plenty of blame to go around but it definately wasn't just a Democrat Caused Problem..not by far.

I think it bothers you that all those conservatives are wildly popular. I think it pains you liberals that they crush everyone else in ratings.
*Gasp* could it be that the American public wants to hear these guys? Nah couldn't be.

Funny you seem to forget that OReilly did a lot of dmg to Bush's brother, the flordia governor BEFORE AND DURING the november elections. It's simple OReilly goes after EVERYONE.

O'Riely also went after the Energy Companies too. My original comment wasn't firected at O'Riely, it was directed at Sagalore!

Well for one, The Register is a publication with libertarian bent, Steven Greenhut is not remotely a 'lockstep defender of anything Republican'. Greenhut is a libertarian and often parts ways with Republicans as much as Democrats (because that's what Libertarians do). Spin spin spin!

And everything is relative along the political spectrum. If you're R. Scott Moxley, anything 'right' of the The San Francisco Gay Parade Review is 'conservative'.

Well, I don't need some windbag to tell me what to think. YMMV.

Contrary to what you want to think they don't tell me what to think either. I just prefer to listen to someone who supports my views.

Is it just me or does anyone else find it ludicrous for him to call it the no spin zone? There sure is a lot of spin going on in the no spin zone...

That's fine, everyone needs inclusiveness now and then. Personally I'd rather hear all sides of an issue and not just one from somebody who'll tell me what I want to hear though.

Certainly many americans want to hear these guys. The problem is when they take entertainment for objective truth. Think Rush callers are drawn at random? Generally they are selected because they either support Rush, or if they object they were determined by the call screeners to be someone they could make fun of. Well thats ok, but it is entertainment, and just that.

Oh by the way many americans think Taco Bell is authentic Mexican food. Large numbers of people saying something does not make it true. If Dreyfus were alive today, he would agree.

Not really. That's to be expected when your ideology consists of simple binaries and sentimental logic ("I want to go back to the days when things were like mah grammy told me") . This sort of reflexive, mindless, convenient thinking appeals to, and is swallowed up by the unthinking masses that make up most of America, especially during a period where complex realities are too painful to recognize.

I'm a conservative, but man, O'Reilly is just a d1ck!! He can't even argue with someone - if he's losing the argument he'll just interrupt the person with blatant statements like, "I'm right, you're wrong, and I think you know it, too."
