Who else saw something like this coming?
The defunding of Planned Parenthood by conservatives is having the effect we all knew it would and is causing health issues amongst low income individuals. When is the "pro life" crowd going to learn that they're failing their cause more than helping it? Then again, it's seemed more and more that "pro life" is actually "pro control".
I remember finding a statistic somewhere once that showed that the abortion rate of Planned Parenthood patients was lower than the abortion rate amongst the general populace. Which isn't surprising since free or reduced cost health advice would lead to better decisions prior to becoming pregnant.
The only public health facility in the county where locals could get tested for HIV was the Planned Parenthood center, so when that was forced to close due to major budget cuts, there was nowhere for people to turn. The cuts to funding began in 2011 due to a local political campaign to combat the free health care provider.
