Every post about a Conroe PC build has an after-market heatsink like a Scythe Ninja. If I plan on doing little or no overclocking, is there any reason I shouldn't use the stock heatsink?

I am guessing noise might be an issue, but is the stock one really that loud?

I plan on getting the E6600 in a few months, if that matters.

Should work OK - it runs cooler than its predecessors.

It is the same heatsink as on the Pentium D's so it would be safe to say it will cool a conroe cpu.

In this month's issue of MaxPC, they dropped a Zalman on a Conroe...then disabled the fan and encoded an entire DVD. These suckers run really cool, the stock HSF is more than adequate.
