Conroe Test Update

They updated the BIOS and changed a couple of settings. Realized some gains for Conroe and some for the Athlon.

Maybe this will put the fanboy chatter down a little.

I read nothing different in that article...seems Conroe still owns!!!!

Yes, but it should put a bias issue to rest.

They overlocked the AMD procesor?...WHY?!

And yeah conroe is looking to be reallly nice. If for some reason I get a PC this summer (though I'm looking to extend the life of my 2200+ another three years) I would get Intel for the first time ever...

But I guess I'll see what things look like three years from now ;)

Presumably to show that the Conroe chip will be competitive with 'future' AMD CPU offerings that will be at or above the speed of the OCed FX-60.

Their stock speeds are close. Finally Intel is getting more done per clock cycle. Imagine if that chip scales to >5GHz. :Q

EDIT: That said, they should have o/c the conroe to 3 GHz. :p

I wonder if one would call an underclocked conroe a conrad? :laugh:
