Conroe stock fan stops spinning?

A few times I've had the stock HSF have trouble spinning up during startup and scared the crap out of me. Is this part of some sort of intel cooling thing or should I be thinking about returning my new conroe retail package?

Doesn't that have one of those PWM fans on it? Well, when you just start up, the CPU is cold, so it may start briefly and as soon as the PWM kicks in, it'll drop off and then come back on as the CPU warms up.

These people that buy fancy equipment that they dont understand... :roll:

mine does that, it's the motherboard and the way it regulates power apparently. even with it set to "on all the time" in the bios it still hesitates a moment before it starts up. the same thing with the video card fan which is also plugged into the motherboard.

i'm not using the stock conroe fan, but i had it on there and it did it with that fan and the zalman 9500 i have plugged in now (which is not the pwm type).

not sure there was a reason to be an a'hole about it zepper, the forums are here for people to ask questions and all.

No he's right. I should have researched the specs and features of the retail HSF before I bought my first Intel cpu in a while. At least he feels better about himself now. Thx guys.

so it's fun to belittle people because they ask perfectly legit questions? that's not against forum rules? not everyone can be "elite" and know everything, once again, that's why the forums are here.

I thought this inquiry has merit too. IMO, as a AMD guy, I learned something here.
