"Over at HKEPC, they tested the next generation Conroe - Intel Core E6700 - is tested on an Asrock 77i65G motherboard. This is a i865G motherboard with ICH5, which means that it was meant for last generation's Pentium but is still compatible with the fastest CPU Intel has. The rev 2.0 version comes with an AGP 8X slot - I am not kidding - a mATX format, three PCI slots, RoHS compliance, SATA/PATA ports and DDR400 compatibility. HKEPC did not overclock the Conroe which runs at 2.66GHz. There are a couple of 3DMark 05 benchmarks as well."

get the hell out lol , no way

i post this in other forum , too

Im saying that since the mobo is revision 2.0 that means they "MIGHT HAVE" update the VRM to VRM11, so that it will run conroe

but will current mobo run Conroe?? n one can be sure about that, as u can see VRM effect a lot

theteamaqua a board being able to run conroe would'nt this be dependent upon fsb, and the voltage that the board maxes at?. funny thing is if you look at the cpu suport list for that board conroe is not on it which begs the question will other boards that suport Presler/Smithfield/Cedar Mill run conroe. from reading it would seem it's just matter of the board getting new bios'es to be conroe inable.

cool. i guess that might be the heart of a new build. although i don't feel comfortable. i have never built an intel system and i heard bad things about ASRock...

Better yet - it means I can buy a budget board and PentiumD 805 NOW!! I can upgrade to Conroe later. Yes..... that's a very tempting route!

Big question: What is the thing to look for in a board to see if it will support Conroe since "conroe" isn't bringing up anything... "Presler"? ???
