Conroe, Intel 965P and 7950GX2?

Does anyone know whether the 7950GX2 supports Intel's 965P? I was considering a gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6, but I can't find anywhere listing that chipset as supported (And nVidia only list the 945P motherboards from Gigabyte as compatible)

Oh of course it will. If the motherboard contains a PCI express x16 slot, then anything from a 6600-7950gx2 and everything else will work just fine.

Excellent:) Just checking - I know one Conroe reviews that said they had problems with the 7950GX2

Make sure to have 2GB of system memory. 7950GX2 tends to show weird behavior w/ 1GB of system RAM.

Thanks for the advice - I do a lot of video editing so 2GB is a certainty for me :)
Although following today's Conroe Buying Guide I'm seriously considering that Asus Conroe SLI board and 2 7900GTX cards (what better way to spend an entire month's pay!)

They do NOT support the 7950GX2

It fails to boot on my Abit BP9 as well as my friend's Gigabyte DS3

Just because it has the single PCIe X16 does not make it compatible

So, until there are hard confirmations (notice why no one tested these boards with that video card yet?) AVOID the
Intel 965 chipset with this Video Card...

The P965 has not been validated by NVIDIA yet. We have 7950GX2 cards coming next week for the motherboard reviews but until that time please visit - 7950GTX Compatibility to see if your motherboard is fully supported.

Please say you will be reviewing the 7900GT as well and not just the 7950 on the Conroe boards... some of us are very interested to see how these boards compare to s939 and AM2 boards which you've already tested with the 7900GT I believe. Would love to get an idea what sort of real world performance we can expect with an E6400 (not overclocked), 7900GT (not oc'd), and 1GB-2GB DDR2-800 (not over-spec''d). This would be the new average gamer system, seeing as how the only really expensive part is the motherboard and possibly the RAM if 2GB. The videocard and processor should both be rather affordable and yet powerful.

The purpose of the 7950GX2 cards is to verify if the card will work in the board or not. We will continue to use the 7900GTX or ATI1900XTX in the motherboard reviews although I bet an upcoming article might answer your request. ;)

Thanks for the replies, everyone. It turned up on the supported list before I bought it and it works really well
