Conroe E6600 - Farthest Overclock on Stock Cooling?

I'm curious how far people have been able to push an e6600 on the stock cooler. I'd like to overclock mine when I build a system at the end of the month, and since I'll be getting two gigs of RAM at the same time, I'm trying to decide whether I should spring for DDR2-800 or if it'll get too hot to make use of anything faster than DDR2-667. Anyone get their e6600 past 333MHz on the stock cooler?

Cheers,
Kyle

If you're having problems making decisions about RAM, I highly recommend you try out some of this stuff:

at least, I think that's the Super Talent DDR2-667 that reportedly OCs to DDR2-800 with ease. Take the money you save buying that RAM and spend some of it on a beter HSF so you won't have to wonder how far you can go with the stock heatsink. Don't forget good thermal paste, too . . . I recommend either Arctic Silver Ceramique or Shin-Etsu X23-7783D (http://www.ajigo-store.com/se7783d.html, this stuff is hard to find).

If you get lucky with a very good chip it is possible to OC an E6600 past 333, with a voltage increase, on the stock cooler; but I would not recommend it.

If you want to OC past 333 I would go with 800 DDR2, if not get 667. Prices on newegg are between the two are not that different.

You don't need to buy actual DDR2-800 if you can get DDR2-667 that overclocks to DDR2-800 speeds easily. Plus, that Super Talent stuff is just plain cheap, even by DDR2-667 standards.
