Question connector types

Can someone tell me the names of each of these 2 types of connections? Both are 3-pin, 5V connectors. Do they work interchangeably as long as the plastic pieces are not in the way?

but the plastic locking mechanisms are different. do the pins work interchangeably if the plastic locking mechanisms are removed?

The connectors are keyed, they only go in one way. They are the same type of cable and can be used interchangeably.

I took the plastic clips off and they're working so far. Nothing has melted yet! hahaha

You got lucky and the coin-flip you tossed was correct. They are keyed for a reason and that is so that the ground, +12V, and RPM sensor wires are aligned properly. Flip them around and your cables are now out of order...
