Connection troubles in XP

My friend and I each just got a build of WinXP. He runs a server on hotline and I was trying to connect to it but I can't. I also cannot connect to him through AIM (direct connection).

I have firewall disabled, all remote desktop settings enabled, i CAN connect to other servers, and other ppl without xp.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys

Connect to it how?

Mapping a drive?
Seeing a web page?
FTPing a file?
Sending instant mesages?

All of these use different TCP ports. You must configure the firewall to allow traffic on the appropriate ports through.

Please post more information. "Can't connect" is ambiguous at best. We need to know what *kind* of connection you're attempting to make.
