OK, here's the deal, I'm in a temporary house for the summer while I intern. It is not at all practical to run a ethernet cable to my room. The wireless router is waay upstairs, but I have an external antenna so my signal is fine. My motherboard has 2x gigabit onboard lan, and what I want to do is hook the xbox up to that (is a crossover cable needed?) and share the connection to use xbox live. Is this possible? I can hold my own when setting up a home network, but I am unsure with the use of features such as connection sharing, bridging connections, etc...

How do I need to configure the connection in Windows (XP Pro) to make this work (assuming it is even possible)?
A quick walkthrough or howto would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks folks!

Cliffnotes:
-PC with wireless connection
-Want to wire XBox to PC and use its wireless.
-How do I set that up in Windows? (XP Pro)

If you already have wireless access in your home, the easiest thing would be to
buy a wireless bridge for your X-Box like the Dlink DWL-G810 or G820. If you still
want to attempt to share a connection with the pc, then you will need to setup the pc
to enable internet connection sharing. Yes, the crossover cable will be needed for that.
I wish had more info than that, but not having attempted using an X-Box on a LAN,
I can't offer any real advice other than enable Internet connection sharing.

I don't know if you found help otherwise, but here goes.
XBConnect support topic
I saw this on another forum, and the user said his implementation went well. It looks like you would have to install this program on your PC, then run ICS on your PC. Looking at all the "official" XBOX stuff, it seems the only ICS connection allowed is if you connect to your modem through USB. I am also not sure of the legality of the program so beware. Other than one person, I've never heard positive or negative experiences, so good luck.
