Connection problem after reformat.

Hi, I am having a problem with my internet after a reformat on my computer. I am currently using Window xp SP3 and Gigabytes DS3 V1 or V2. Anyway, I formatted my computer last night and installed sp3 and the latest lan driver from Gigabytes website for my motherboard. The problem is that my internet would disconnect and reconnect randomly, which can be very troublesome while gaming online. Any idea what could be the cause and how do I fix it?
