Connection Issue

Sorry about the vague subject, but I'm sort of in the dark about the whole situation.

My friend's laptop (about 7 years old) runs on network cards (the long flat kind that you insert), one for wireless and a seperate card for wired. The same problem applies to both these cards. What will happen is the cards will no long be able to connect to the router and windows will just read "acquiring network address" and will never resolve, even after repairing the connection.

Sometime on the wireless card we won't even be able to see different networks, but when we do, it'll be the same problem. I've tried setting up a static IP, but that hasn't worked either. I'm actually quite a novice at networking so I don't know where to start. Also all the other computers using that router are having no problems at all. Thanks!

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
